The Brown County Water Improvement District has hired and sworn in three new Lake Patrolmen, bringing the Lake Brownwood Lake Patrol to full staffing after six months of law-enforcement training. The district also promoted Patrolman Craig Kinsey to lieutenant as lake levels stood at 85.1% of capacity.

Brownwood will begin using the PASER pavement-rating system this fall to assess city streets and help determine which roads are repaired first during the 2026-27 fiscal year. The system will score pavement from 1 to 10, place the information in the city’s GIS system and support decisions about a $300,000 street-improvement budget.
