Brown County commissioners approve digital records plan, keep burn ban in place

Brown County commissioners approved steps to expand digital access to county records, including a new $10 retrieval fee, while leaving the current burn ban in effect. The court also approved updates involving software, purchasing thresholds, wildfire equipment, fees, meetings and county holidays.

Martha Shelton, Who Lived in Brownwood Since Childhood, Dies at 95

Martha Ann Hurlbut Shelton, a longtime Brownwood resident, died Sept. 7 at Pecan Bayou nursing center after a brief illness. Her family is planning a memorial service and will announce details later.
