La Botana Mexican Grill & Tequila Bar has been named the winner of the Best Salsa in Brown County contest hosted by the Strategic Alliance for Leadership and Social Action, known as SALSA.

The contest was held during SALSA’s fifth annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Sept. 19 at Riverside Park in Brownwood. The event brought local restaurants together to showcase their flavors and culinary talents while highlighting the contributions of Hispanic culture in Brown County.

Local restaurants took part in celebration

SALSA said participating restaurants helped make the celebration a success and demonstrated the value of community involvement, cultural pride and support for local businesses. The organization expressed appreciation to all of the restaurants that entered the contest, not only to the winning La Botana.

According to SALSA, local restaurants contribute to Brown County in several ways. They serve customers, support the local economy, help preserve cultural traditions and create places where residents can gather. Their involvement in community events also gives residents opportunities to celebrate diversity, experience local traditions and build connections across the county.

SALSA focuses on leadership and cultural awareness

SALSA’s mission includes promoting leadership, education, cultural awareness and community engagement throughout Brown County. The Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration was presented as an opportunity to recognize the people and businesses that support those goals.

“We are incredibly grateful to our local restaurants for taking the time to participate and support our celebration. Their involvement helps us honor our Hispanic heritage while bringing our community together. We encourage everyone to continue supporting our local businesses and celebrating the many contributions they make to Brown County,” SALSA said.

The organization congratulated La Botana on earning the countywide title and thanked the participating restaurants for their generosity, support and commitment to the community. SALSA also said it looks forward to continuing those partnerships and creating additional opportunities to celebrate local culture, support businesses and bring Brown County residents together.
