Early’s volleyball team is still unbeaten after opening the season with seven straight victories, including a four-set road win over Ballinger on Tuesday night. The Lady Horns won 25-8, 25-10, 24-26, 25-17 and will bring their 7-0 record to Brownwood for the Heart of Texas tournament.
Early’s leaders in the Ballinger win
Aubrie DeVillier led Early with 17 kills. Grey Pruett and Ella DeVillier added six kills apiece, while Racy Pruett had five and Pearl Sharp recorded one.
Grey Pruett directed the offense with 25 assists, and Sunny Groom finished with 11. Racy Pruett recorded a team-high two aces. Ellie Shea and Aubrie DeVillier each added one ace.
Jaime Lyon anchored the defensive effort with 32 digs, followed by Aubrie DeVillier with 30, Grey Pruett with 18 and Groom with 16. Hallie Thornberry had nine digs, while Racy Pruett recorded six, Shea four and Ella DeVillier one.
At the net, Shea led Early with four blocks. Aubrie DeVillier had three, Ella DeVillier had two, and Sharp and Racy Pruett each added one.
Thursday matches in Brownwood
The Lady Horns will next compete at Brownwood High School, with all three of their Thursday matches scheduled for the auxiliary gym. Early will face the Abilene Cooper JV at 9 a.m., Abilene TLCA at 11 a.m. and Ballinger in a rematch at 1 p.m.
The Brownwood tournament gives local volleyball followers an opportunity to see the undefeated Early squad as it tries to continue its season-opening run.
