The Early Lady Horns volleyball team remained unbeaten Thursday at the Heart of Texas tournament in Brownwood, collecting three victories at Brownwood High School and raising its season record to 10-0.
Early defeated Abilene Cooper JV, Abilene TLCA and Ballinger during pool play. The team is scheduled to return to tournament action Saturday for bracket play, with the bracket to be determined after pool play concludes.
Early opens with two-set victories
The Lady Horns began with a 25-8, 25-15 win over Abilene Cooper JV. Aubrie DeVillier led Early with 10 kills, followed by Ella DeVillier with eight. Grey Pruett added three kills, while Racy Pruett, Sunny Groom and Ellie Shea recorded one each.
Grey Pruett delivered 13 assists, and Groom finished with eight. Aubrie DeVillier served four aces, while Grey Pruett and Shea added two apiece.
Early’s defense was led by Aubrie DeVillier’s 13 digs. Groom, Jaime Lyon and Grey Pruett each had eight, followed by Shea with seven, Hallie Thornberry with three and Racy Pruett with one. Shea recorded two blocks, while Aubrie DeVillier and Ella DeVillier had one each.
Against Abilene TLCA, Early posted another decisive win, 25-10, 25-6. Aubrie DeVillier again led the attack with 11 kills. Grey Pruett and Ella DeVillier contributed four each, Racy Pruett and Pearl Sharp had three apiece, and Shea added two.
Grey Pruett recorded 15 assists, with five from Groom. Groom and Grey Pruett each served two aces, while Racy Pruett added one. Hallie Thornberry led the defense with 10 digs, followed by Racy Pruett with six, Aubrie DeVillier with five, Ella DeVillier and Groom with four each, Grey Pruett with two and Shea with one. Shea also recorded Early’s only block in the match.
Lady Horns finish pool play with Ballinger win
Early closed the day by defeating Ballinger 25-17, 25-19. Aubrie DeVillier produced 13 more kills, while Grey Pruett had six and Ella DeVillier added four.
Grey Pruett registered 12 assists, Groom contributed 10 and Shea was credited with one. Aubrie DeVillier served two aces, and Grey Pruett added one.
Thornberry and Grey Pruett led Early with 15 digs each. Aubrie DeVillier had 13, Groom and Racy Pruett recorded 12 apiece, and Ella DeVillier finished with 11. Shea, Ella DeVillier and Aubrie DeVillier each recorded one block.
The Ballinger match was a rematch of Early’s four-set road victory Tuesday night. The Lady Horns’ next tournament results will come during Saturday’s bracket play at Brownwood High School.
