The Brownwood Lionettes are asking for community support as they raise money for a trip to Disney World in Florida next April. The team will hold a pre-order-only loaded baked potato fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 29, with proceeds going toward the travel costs connected to the event.
Orders will be available for pickup from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Methodist Church, 2500 11th Street, in Brownwood. Delivery will also be available for orders of five or more potatoes.
How to place an order
Each loaded baked potato costs $12. The meal includes a baked potato topped with butter, chili, shredded cheese, sour cream and green onions, along with dessert.
Customers are asked to prepay so the Lionettes can plan the number of meals needed. Payment instructions call for orders to be sent through Venmo at @Kacey-Humphries. Buyers should include their name and the number of potatoes they want to purchase.
The pre-order deadline is Oct. 24, five days before the pickup date. Because the fundraiser is pre-order only, residents who plan to participate should submit their orders before that deadline.
Trip supports parade appearance
Funds raised will support the Lionettes’ April trip to Disney World, where the team plans to take part in the All-Star Spirit Spring Extravaganza parade. The fundraiser gives Brownwood residents a way to support the group ahead of that planned appearance while purchasing a prepared meal for pickup.
