Brownwood High School will host the third annual Heart of Texas volleyball tournament, bringing a 12-team field to the Lady Lions’ home court for pool play and bracket competition. All tournament games are scheduled to take place at Brownwood High School, including matches at Warren Gym and the Auxiliary Gym.

The Brownwood Lady Lions enter the tournament with a 2-5 record and are scheduled to open Pool A against Bangs at 9 a.m. They will face Brady at 11 a.m. and Richland Springs at 1 p.m. Thursday at Warren Gym.

Thursday pool play schedule

Pool A will be played at Warren Gym and includes Brownwood, Bangs, Richland Springs and Brady. The complete schedule lists six matches:

  • Brownwood vs. Bangs at 9 a.m.
  • Richland Springs vs. Brady at 10 a.m.
  • Brownwood vs. Brady at 11 a.m.
  • Bangs vs. Richland Springs at noon
  • Brownwood vs. Richland Springs at 1 p.m.
  • Bangs vs. Brady at 2 p.m.

Pool B will compete Thursday at the Auxiliary Gym. Early will play Abilene Cooper JV at 9 a.m., Ballinger will meet Abilene TLCA at 10 a.m., Early will face Abilene TLCA at 11 a.m., Ballinger will play Abilene Cooper JV at noon, Early will meet Ballinger at 1 p.m., and Abilene TLCA will play Abilene Cooper JV at 2 p.m.

Friday and Saturday competition

Pool C is scheduled for Friday at Warren Gym, beginning with Brownwood JV against Coleman at 9 a.m. The remaining Pool C matches are Snyder against Fort Worth Covenant at 10 a.m., Brownwood JV against Fort Worth Covenant at 11 a.m., Coleman against Snyder at noon, Brownwood JV against Snyder at 1 p.m. and Coleman against Fort Worth Covenant at 2 p.m.

Saturday will bring gold and silver bracket play. The pool results will determine the matchups, giving teams a path to championship-level competition as well as the silver bracket.

Along with Brownwood and Brownwood JV, the tournament field includes Early, Bangs, Coleman, Richland Springs, Brady, Ballinger, Abilene TLCA, Snyder, Fort Worth Covenant and Abilene Cooper JV. Early enters with a 7-0 record, while the other teams’ records were not provided in the announcement.
