Teen artists in Brownwood will soon have a new place to develop their skills, meet creative peers and work with experienced mentors. The Brownwood Art Association is introducing Creative Edge, a new after-school arts enrichment program for students ages 16–18 who are interested in exploring their artistic abilities.
The program is supported by the Harriet Gully Beadle Foundation and will be offered at no cost to participants. However, students must pre-register before taking part.
What Creative Edge will offer
Creative Edge is designed to provide a safe, welcoming setting where young artists can receive structured instruction while also having time to work independently on personal projects. Participants will be able to explore both traditional and digital art as they build creative skills and confidence.
Students will work with experienced artist mentors, instructors and volunteers. The program also is intended to help participants connect with other young people who share their interests.
Planned activities include instruction in a variety of traditional art mediums, digital art instruction using iPads and Apple Pencils, guest artists, speakers, workshops, demonstrations and special events throughout the semester. Participants will also receive independent studio time for their own projects.
