Drivers traveling US 377 in Brownwood should prepare for overnight construction beginning Monday, Oct. 12, as TxDOT’s contractor starts preservation work on the bridge over Adams Branch.

The work is scheduled from approximately 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews plan to begin placing overlay material on the bridge at about 8 p.m. Monday, with construction continuing through Friday morning, weather permitting.

What Brownwood drivers should expect

There will be various nightly lane closures while crews work in the bridge area. Despite the overnight activity, all lanes are expected to remain open during daytime hours.

The bridge is near the Red Wagon Restaurant, just south of the “Traffic T.” Motorists traveling through the work zone are asked to use caution, watch for crews and equipment, obey the speed limit and avoid distractions.

Work schedule and safety reminder

The overnight schedule is intended to allow preservation work to proceed while keeping the bridge open during the day. The project is described as work to extend the life of the bridge, and the contractor’s schedule remains subject to weather conditions.

Drivers should allow additional care and attention when approaching the bridge at night. TxDOT and its contractor are asking motorists for patience as the work is completed.
