Tickets are now on sale for the eighth annual Sipping Under the Stars, a holiday tasting event returning to Downtown Brownwood on Saturday, Dec. 5. The event will run from 4 to 8 p.m. and combine wine and beer tastings with holiday shopping, live entertainment and seasonal activities.
Presented by Visit Brownwood in partnership with Downtown Brownwood Inc., Sipping Under the Stars is part of Feels Like Christmas in Brownwood. It will take place alongside the Christmas Under the Stars Festival and Yuletide Express, giving residents and visitors several holiday attractions to experience downtown on the same evening.
What tickets include
Presale tickets cost $35 per person. Each ticket includes 10 tasting tickets, a commemorative wine glass and a strolling map identifying participating businesses and tasting locations. Groups can also purchase bundles of 10 tickets together.
Tickets are available online at btxgov.info/sippingtickets or in person at the Visitor Center, 700 E Adams St. Tickets will also be sold on the day of the event for $45 each.
Attendees will pick up their ticket packets beginning at 4 p.m. at the Brownwood Lyric Theatre’s Off Center Playhouse, 401 Center Avenue. From there, participants can walk through downtown, using tasting tickets to receive wine and beer samples at participating locations while visiting local shops, restaurants and other downtown destinations.
Entertainment and participating businesses
Regional wineries and breweries will host tastings at businesses throughout the evening. Organizers said the list of participating wineries, breweries, businesses and tasting locations will be announced later.
Beyond the tastings, the event will feature live music at Pat Coursey Park, vendors, a photo booth and visits with Mrs. Claus. The combination of downtown shopping, dining and multiple holiday events is intended to give families and groups an opportunity to spend the evening celebrating the Christmas season.
Sipping Under the Stars has become a recurring part of Brownwood’s holiday celebration, bringing residents and visitors downtown to support local businesses while enjoying festive entertainment and the community atmosphere of the season.
