Brownwood’s Riverside Park will be the setting for SALSA’s fifth annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 19. The community event is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. and will combine music, food, family activities and cultural competitions.
Organizers are inviting residents to spend the afternoon and evening at the park, with activities planned for children and adults. The event is presented as a gathering centered on family, community and culture.
Music, contests and activities
Live music featuring Paloma is scheduled throughout the evening. Attendees can also participate in lotería, with prizes and cash prizes available, and a salsa competition where visitors can taste entries and help determine the best salsa in Brown County.
A grito contest will invite participants to show who can bring the most energy. Families with children can visit the kids’ area, which will include a bounce house, games and a piñata.
Food, vendors and raffle prizes
Local vendors will offer shopping, treats, food and more. Food and drinks will also be available during the celebration.
A 50/50 raffle will feature several prizes, including a 65-inch television, a Nexgrill four-burner gas grill and a one-hour massage. The announcement does not provide additional details about ticket prices, vendor participation or event entry.
