A moonlit evening combining astronomy, music and community expression is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Texas Botanical Gardens in Goldthwaite. Lunar Echoes begins at 7 p.m. and is open to teens, young adults and families.
The event will take place beneath the night sky at the Goldthwaite Pavilion as part of NASA’s International Observe the Moon Night. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe the moon while participating in a community drumming experience led by Daniel Graham of the Brownwood Art Association.
A night of moon watching and music
Organizers describe the gathering as a creative and social experience that combines science, music and self-expression. The program is intended especially for teens and young adults, but guests of all ages are welcome.
Participants may attend to learn more about astronomy, make music or spend time with friends in an outdoor setting. The event is also designed to welcome both experienced drummers and beginners.
What to bring and admission details
Drums and percussion instruments will be provided. Guests may also bring their own instruments to contribute to the shared rhythm.
The Texas Botanical Gardens address is 1219 Fisher St., Goldthwaite, TX 76844. Admission is free for TBGNAIC members and costs $5 for nonmembers.
