Drivers using FM 2524, also known as Austin Avenue, in Brownwood should prepare for overnight construction beginning early next week. TxDOT’s contractor will continue the roadway project by paving the outside lanes while traffic moves through the work area.
The overnight schedule is intended to account for extreme temperatures. Work is expected to begin around 8 p.m. and finish each morning around 9 a.m. The outside-lane paving should take two to three nights to complete the final layer of asphalt.
Inside-lane work will follow
Once the outside lanes are finished, construction will shift to the inside lanes. That portion of the project is expected to take two to three weeks, weather permitting.
