Brown County officials are weighing contractors for remodeling projects at three county facilities after two companies submitted qualifications during Monday’s Brown County Commissioners Court meeting.
Waldrop Construction of Brownwood and Shellback Construction of Brenham, Texas, submitted a “Statement of Qualification” for the upcoming work. The projects include remodeling the Courthouse at 200 South Broadway, the County Attorney’s office at 613 North Fisk and the recently acquired county building at 600 Fisk.
Contractor review comes before bids
Commissioners will review the submitted qualifications. The county is expected to receive bids and select a contractor at a later point, but the source does not provide a date for that next step.
Other actions approved
The court also approved work with the May Independent School District to install crosswalks and signage on County Road 411-E. Precinct 2 Commissioner Joel Kelton presented the item.
Commissioners approved the purchase of a flatbed trailer requested by Precinct 3 Commissioner David Reid. The trailer will cost $3,450 and will be purchased from Wildfire Truck Sales.
Acting County Judge Tom Munson presented an order setting the salary of the official district court reporter, which commissioners approved. The court also approved installation of a private water line on County Road 129 by the Brookesmith Special Utility District. Precinct 4 Commissioner Larry Traweek presented that request.
Burn ban remains in effect
Commissioners took no action on the burn ban. As a result, the current burn ban remains on for now, according to the meeting report.
