Evacuations Ordered as Large Wildfire Moves North Near Blanket

Residents along three Brown County roads were asked to evacuate Sunday afternoon as a large wildfire near Blanket moved north and threatened structures, according to Brownwood News.

The fire was reported at approximately 2:50 p.m. near Hughdy Lane in the areas of County Roads 294, 292, 328, 329 and 325. A photo from near the scene was provided to Brownwood News at approximately 3 p.m.

Multiple departments respond

Fire departments from Blanket, Zephyr, Early, May, Brownwood, Lake Bridge, Brookesmith and Winchell were reported to be at the scene. The Texas Forest Service was also being notified because structures were threatened.

Residents asked to leave

Fire departments requested that all residents on County Roads 325, 328 and 329 evacuate. The report did not provide a total number of homes or residents affected, identify any injuries or confirm whether structures had been damaged.
