Brownwood-area family and friends are remembering Terry Lynn Camp, who died peacefully on September 4, 2026, at age 62. A private memorial service will be held at a later date, with arrangements entrusted to Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Camp was born September 25, 1963, in Palestine, Texas, to Mary Evelyn Armstrong and Marvin Camp. He was one of eight children and grew up surrounded by his family.
Family and Brownwood connections
Camp was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Evelyn; his father, Marvin; and his sister, Kathy.
He is survived by his brothers Jerry Lacey of Fairfield, Texas; James Michael of Fairfield; and Jimmy Don Perkins and his wife, Carolynn Perkins, of Malakoff. His surviving sisters include Shirley Bain and her husband, Bobby Bain, of Fairfield; Judy Beene of Fairfield; and Diana Armstrong of Brownwood.
He is also survived by his niece Jamie Armstrong, whom he helped raise, and her fiancé, Ryan Garza, both of Brownwood, along with many other nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A life built around projects
Camp was known for finding something to work on nearly anywhere. His projects ranged from working on vehicles and building with popsicle sticks to making birdhouses and tinkering with small bicycles equipped with two-cycle engines.
Riding those bicycles was one of his greatest joys. The obituary describes the activity as a source of freedom and fun for Camp, reflecting his enjoyment of hands-on work and simple pleasures.
During his younger years, Camp also enjoyed going into town and visiting with friends. He especially liked spending time at I-45 Coffee Shop, where he shared coffee with Reno Carroll and many other friends.
Troy Jones and Donnie Farris were among the friendships that held a particularly special place in Camp’s heart. His family said the people he met and the relationships he formed throughout his life meant a great deal to him.
Memories to continue
Camp will be remembered for his love of tinkering, his appreciation for ordinary moments and the memories he created with the people around him. His family and friends are carrying those memories forward as they remember the unique person he was.
The private memorial service date has not been announced. Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood is handling arrangements.
