The Lake Brownwood Lake Patrol is now fully staffed after the Brown County Water Improvement District hired and swore in three new patrol officers at Tuesday’s meeting of the district’s Board of Directors.
Russell Kirkwood, Nathan Weeks and Justin Pope are the new Lake Patrolmen. According to the district’s report, the three officers spent six months training for law enforcement at the Central Texas College Police Academy in Killeen before joining the patrol.
Lake patrol leadership also changes
With the three additions, Lake Brownwood’s patrol force has reached full staffing, according to Marcus Lively, chief of the Lake Patrol. The district also promoted current Patrolman Craig Kinsey to lieutenant.
Kinsey is now the Lake Patrol’s second-ranking officer and serves as chief assistant to Lively. The changes expand the patrol’s staffing while adding a new leadership position within the organization.
Lake Brownwood remains below full level
Water District General Manager John Allen reported that Lake Brownwood was at 1,421.9 feet above sea level. The lake was 3.1 feet below full and 85.1% full at the time of the report.
That level was below the lake’s position one year earlier, when Lake Brownwood was reported at 92.8% full. The statewide average for Texas lakes was 73.8% full.
