Howard Payne University Athletics is expanding how Brownwood-area fans can follow the Yellow Jackets through a new broadcast partnership with Brown County Broadcasting and KOXE. The agreement begins with the 2026-27 athletic year and will add live audio coverage while extending the program’s connection with listeners across Brown County and the Heartland.
Under the partnership, KOXE will provide coverage of all Howard Payne football games and all home basketball games. The agreement also includes selected away basketball contests and selected baseball and softball contests. The new audio option is intended to give fans another way to follow games when they are at home, traveling or unable to attend in person.
How fans will access the broadcasts
Howard Payne Athletics will receive a dedicated internet channel within the KOXE digital sports network. The channel will be available online and through the KOXE mobile app, alongside the station’s existing sports channels for Brownwood, Bangs, Coleman, May and Goldthwaite.
Some Howard Payne games may also air directly on KOXE-FM when programming and scheduling permit. The station’s existing FM and AM platforms will provide promotional support directing listeners to the HPU internet broadcasts.
The audio coverage will complement Howard Payne’s existing live video streaming partnership with FloCollege, giving Yellow Jacket fans both audio and video options for following the university’s teams.
Weekly coaches show also planned
The partnership includes a weekly Howard Payne coaches show segment on KOXE-FM as part of the station’s existing sports programming. The segment will give fans an opportunity to hear directly from HPU coaches and receive additional insight into Yellow Jacket Athletics outside of game broadcasts.
Brown County Broadcasting will provide the internet broadcast platform, initial technical setup, coordination, scheduling and continuing support for Howard Payne’s broadcasts. Additional details about the broadcast schedule, dedicated internet channel and weekly coaches show are expected as the 2026-27 athletic year approaches.
Howard Payne Director of Athletics Adam Bright said the agreement will make the program more accessible to the community and give fans another avenue to follow the Yellow Jackets. The partnership also offers the university a way to highlight its student-athletes and coaches for listeners throughout Brown County and the wider Heartland.
For KOXE, the agreement adds Howard Payne Athletics to a local sports network that already serves multiple area communities. The station said the partnership will strengthen regional sports coverage while helping fans remain connected with the university throughout the year.
