Brownwood residents can watch local artists work and learn about mixed-media embellishment this month as the Brownwood Art Association Fiber and Textile Arts Group presents two free demonstrations connected to its “Embellish!” exhibit.
Both events will take place at the Brownwood Art Center Gallery, 215 Fisk. Admission is free, and the demonstrations are open to the public.
Two demonstrations planned
The first event, BAAFTA Demonstration Day, is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. Group members will bring their current projects to the gallery and work on them during a come-and-go program. Visitors will have an opportunity to see artists working with a variety of fibers and textiles.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 2 p.m., Robin Key will present a demonstration on embellished egg cartons, also known as Kitchen Counter Cuties. The program will include a show-and-tell about the mixed media used to decorate egg cartons, with a focus on paper quilling.
Exhibit continues through Sept. 30
The “Embellish!” exhibit will remain on display at the Art Center through Sept. 30. Gallery hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Gallery admission is free.
