The Early Lady Horns remained undefeated Saturday by winning the Dublin volleyball tournament and extending their season-opening record to 17-0. Early defeated Santo, 25-12 and 25-5, in the championship match after also beating Keene earlier in the day.

The tournament title came after Early had already defeated Keene and Santo on Thursday to open the weekend. The Lady Horns faced both teams again Saturday, completing a second set of victories over the tournament field and carrying a 17-match winning streak into their next home match.

Championship match highlights

Aubrie DeVillier led Early against Santo with eight kills, while Ella DeVillier added seven. Grey Pruett, Pearl Sharp and Sunny Groom each recorded two kills. Kailyn Gallardo, Racy Pruett and Ellie Shea contributed one kill apiece.

Grey Pruett finished with 15 assists and Groom added five. Racy Pruett served four aces. Jaime Lyon paced the defense with 21 digs, followed by Groom with eight, Gallardo with seven, Aubrie DeVillier with five and Grey Pruett with four. Ella DeVillier had two digs, while Shea, Hallie Thornberry and Racy Pruett each recorded one.

Groom and Shea led Early at the net with two blocks apiece. Gallardo, Sharp and Grey Pruett each added one block in the championship victory.

Early’s semifinal victory over Keene

Early reached the championship match with a 25-15, 25-16 win over Keene. Aubrie DeVillier powered the offense with 14 kills. Grey Pruett had five, Gallardo and Shea had three each, and Racy Pruett, Ella DeVillier and Groom each added one.

Grey Pruett distributed 14 assists, while Groom finished with 11. Gallardo and Lyon each recorded one assist. Gallardo served two aces, and Lyon, Groom and Racy Pruett each served one.

Lyon recorded 27 digs against Keene, followed by Aubrie DeVillier with 18 and Gallardo with 14. Groom had six digs, Grey Pruett had five, Shea and Ella DeVillier had two each, and Racy Pruett had one. Ella DeVillier led the blocking effort with three, while Shea had two and Groom had one.

The 17-0 Lady Horns are scheduled to return home at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to host Coleman.
