David Jordan Green Jr., a Brookesmith resident remembered for his work ethic, generosity and devotion to his family, died September 16, 2026, in Brownwood. He was 73.
According to his obituary published by KOXE, Green was born March 30, 1953, in Azle to David and Nataleen (Rieck) Green. Over a working life that included construction, welding and body shop work, he later became a service advisor at an automotive dealership. He retired from Waldrop Construction in 2016.
A life built around family and working outdoors
After retirement, Green enjoyed working on the small farm he shared with his wife, Sandy, while watching over his grandchildren. The obituary describes the outdoors as the place where he was happiest, whether he was on a job site or tending the farm.
Green was also known for taking pride in doing a job well and for sharing his knowledge with co-workers, friends and relatives. His teachings and sayings, the obituary says, will live on through his grandchildren.
Green and Sandy married in 1994 after three years together and shared 35 years side by side. They lived in Santa Rosa, California, for 13 years, where they raised their daughters and spent time camping, attending soccer games and visiting with family and friends. After moving to Texas, they embraced country life together.
Survivors and family connections
Green is survived by his wife, Sandy, and three daughters: Shelley (Robbie) Kinney of Rohnert Park, California; Frankie (Hector Vaquera) Hegardt of Brownwood; and Jennifer (Olan) Booher of Brookesmith.
His grandchildren were identified as Dylan and Samantha Kinney; Adrian, Donna Rose and Adeley Barragan; and Wyatt and Scarlett Booher. He is also survived by his brother, Rick Green of McCloud, Oklahoma; his sister, April Felion of Mena, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Nataleen Green; his brother, Larry Gross; and his sister, Ruth Ann Langdeau.
Memorial service planned in Brownwood
A memorial service for Green is scheduled for 11 a.m. October 17, 2026, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood. Arrangements are entrusted to Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
His obituary describes Green as deeply loved and says he will be missed by all who knew him.
