Brownwood-area teams will compete across several sports during the week of Sept. 7-13, with Brownwood football hosting Springtown on Friday, Sept. 11, and Howard Payne opening its college football schedule Saturday night against Clutch City Preparatory.
The weekly schedule, published by Brownwood News, includes volleyball, cross country, football and tennis events involving Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Brookesmith, Blanket, Zephyr, Comanche, Coleman, Rising Star and other area programs.
Tuesday and Wednesday competition
Volleyball begins the listed schedule Tuesday, Sept. 8. Early travels to Dublin for a 5:30 p.m. match, while Bangs visits Rochelle and Lometa visits Brookesmith at 6 p.m. Zephyr plays at Roscoe at 6 p.m., Comanche visits Millsap at 6:30 p.m. and Coleman travels to Hico at 6:30 p.m. San Angelo Saints will play at Richland Springs at 5 p.m., and Rising Star visits Bluff Dale at 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 9, brings several cross country invitationals. Early, Bangs and Coleman are scheduled for the Coleman Invitational at 9 a.m. May also competes at Coleman at 9 a.m., Blanket runs at the Lometa Invitational at 9 a.m. and Zephyr travels to the Lipan Invitational, with the time listed as to be announced.
Thursday and Friday bring key Brownwood matchups
On Thursday, Sept. 10, Brookesmith plays at Blanket in football at 7:30 p.m., while Zephyr visits Bluff Dale at 7 p.m. Perrin Christian travels to Richland Springs for a 7:30 p.m. football game.
Brownwood tennis is scheduled at Stephenville at 4 p.m., and Brownwood cross country is set for the Salado Invitational, with the time listed as to be announced. Early volleyball hosts Breckenridge at 6:30 p.m.
Friday is the busiest day for the Brownwood programs named in the schedule. Springtown visits Brownwood for a 7 p.m. football game. Brownwood volleyball hosts Gatesville at 4:30 p.m., and Brownwood cross country competes at the Lampasas Invitational, with the time to be announced.
Other Friday football games include Ballinger at Early at 7:30 p.m., Cross Plains at Bangs at 7 p.m., May at Sterling City at 7 p.m., Clyde at Comanche at 7 p.m., Abilene TLCA at Coleman at 7 p.m., Goldthwaite at San Saba at 7 p.m., Santa Anna at Panther Creek at 7:30 p.m. and Stephenville Faith at Sidney at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday schedule
Saturday, Sept. 12, starts with volleyball involving area schools. Bangs visits Colorado City at noon, Richland Springs plays at Cornerstone Christian at 11 a.m., and Mullin travels to Lometa at 10 a.m. Coleman/Water Valley plays at Veribest, with the start time to be announced.
Saturday football includes Mullin at Rising Star at 7:30 p.m. At the college level, Clutch City Preparatory is scheduled to play at Howard Payne at 6 p.m.
