Brownwood-area sports teams will be active from Tuesday, Sept. 29, through Saturday, Oct. 3, with Brownwood volleyball, cross country and tennis among the week's featured events. Howard Payne will close the schedule with a home college football game against Nelson at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Tuesday volleyball matches
Brownwood's volleyball team is scheduled to host Glen Rose at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29. Other matches that evening include Peaster at Early at 6:30 p.m., Bangs at Brady at 6 p.m., Gorman at Brookesmith at 6 p.m. and Zephyr at Richland Springs at 6 p.m.
The Tuesday volleyball slate also includes Breckenridge at Comanche at 6:30 p.m., Coleman at Christoval at 6 p.m., Mullin at Rochelle at 6 p.m. and Rising Star at Moran at 6 p.m.
Cross country and tennis on Wednesday and Thursday
Brownwood and Early are both scheduled to compete at the Goldthwaite Invitational on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. May, Blanket and Zephyr are also listed for the Goldthwaite meet at 2 p.m. Bangs and Coleman are scheduled for the Ballinger Invitational, with the time marked TBA. The schedule also lists Coleman at Ballinger at TBA.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, Brownwood tennis is scheduled to face Peaster at 4 p.m. The match is listed as being played at Glen Rose.
Friday football and volleyball
Friday, Oct. 2, brings a series of high school football games. Bowie is scheduled to play at Early at 7:30 p.m.; Aquilla at May and Olfen at Brookesmith are also set for 7:30 p.m. Iredell is scheduled at Blanket at 7:30 p.m., Zephyr at Lometa at 7:30 p.m. and Rochelle at Rising Star at 7:30 p.m.
Additional Friday football games include Goldthwaite at Miles at 7 p.m., Cross Plains at Albany at 7 p.m., Strawn at Panther Creek at 7:30 p.m., Richland Springs versus Whitharral at Baird at 7 p.m., Gustine at Sidney at 7:30 p.m. and Lueders-Avoca at Mullin at 7 p.m.
Brownwood volleyball is scheduled to play at Brock at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Other listed volleyball matches are Dublin at Early at 4 p.m. and Millsap at Comanche at 4 p.m.
Saturday college football and final events
