Brownwood-area athletes face a full week of competition Aug. 10-16, with Brownwood volleyball scheduled for an early home match, football scrimmages beginning Thursday and several weekend tournaments and cross-country meets.

The schedule was published by Brownwood News on Aug. 9, 2026, at 6:45 a.m. It includes events involving Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Brookesmith, Blanket, May, Zephyr, Rising Star and other area programs.

Brownwood volleyball and football

Brownwood volleyball is scheduled to play Early at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11. Other volleyball matches that evening include Abilene TLCA at Bangs at 6 p.m., Brookesmith at Olfen at 5:30 p.m. and Rising Star at Zephyr at 6 p.m.

Football scrimmages begin Thursday, Aug. 13, when Brock is scheduled to visit Brownwood at 7 p.m. The Thursday schedule also lists Abilene Christian, Leakey at Zephyr at 6 p.m., along with scrimmages involving May, Lometa, Menard, Brookesmith and Veribest; several times are listed as to be announced.

On Friday, Aug. 14, the schedule lists Tolar at Early, Bangs at Winters, Paint Rock at Blanket and other football scrimmages. Santa Anna at Irion County is set for 6 p.m., Medina at Richland Springs for 7 p.m. and Baird at Rising Star for 6 p.m.

Weekend tournaments and meets

Brownwood volleyball is scheduled to compete at the Abilene Bev Ball Classic on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14-15, with game times to be announced. Early is listed for a Brady tournament, while Bangs and Zephyr are scheduled for the Veribest tournament.

Saturday’s cross-country schedule includes Brownwood, Bangs, Zephyr and Coleman at the Jim Ned Invitational. The listed times for those meets are to be announced. The day also includes volleyball tournaments and an 11 a.m. match between Roscoe and Mullin.
