The Brownwood Lady Lions cross country team added another championship to its season Friday morning, winning the Lampasas Invitational despite a driving rain. The victory was the team’s second meet title in three outings.
Brownwood finished with 22 points, comfortably ahead of runner-up Austin St. Michaels, which scored 69. Freshman Jordan Johnson led the Lady Lions by winning the individual race in 12:03.75. Alexus Gutierrez followed in second at 12:07.4, while Lynlee Richmon placed fourth in 12:36.85.

Other Brownwood finishers included junior Rebekkah Delgado in sixth place at 12:48.73 and sophomore Destiny Sharp in 10th at 13.17:79. Freshman Paisley Hill finished 11th in 13:19.34, and sophomore Ailean Palacios placed 23rd in 14:25.68.
JV Lions finish third
The Brownwood junior varsity boys finished third with 86 points. Burnet won with 72 points, followed by Marble Falls with 82.
Brayden Munsell led the JV Lions with an eighth-place finish in 13:10.8. Zackary Clawson was 12th in 13:28.55, Rowdy Lucas was 21st in 13:52.66, and Kyler Lavy placed 23rd in 14:14:83. Easton Copeland finished 30th in 14:38.57, followed by Alex Fernandez in 14:52.22, Ezequiel Ramirez in 38th at 15:00.73, Sam May in 42nd at 15:09.34 and Javier Garcia in 55th at 15:40.19.
There was no JV girls race Friday. Results for the varsity Lions were not yet available because of technical issues, according to the report, which said the information would be added when received.
The Lions and Lady Lions are scheduled to compete next at the Salado Invitational on Thursday.
