The Brownwood Lady Lions came within two points of a road volleyball win Tuesday night before the Class 3A Clyde Lady Bulldogs rallied to claim a five-set non-district victory. Brownwood took two of the first three sets, but Clyde won the final two, including a 17-15 decision in the fifth.
Brownwood opened with a 26-24 victory, then dropped the second set 25-10. The Lady Lions answered with a 25-23 win in the third set, but Clyde forced the deciding frame with a 25-14 fourth-set victory.
Brownwood leaders
Demayha Hooker led the Lady Lions with 12 kills. Ashantia Green added eight kills, 15 digs and two blocks, while Kaydence Chandler recorded seven kills. Lexi Driskill contributed four kills, Adyn Lucas had three and Abby Brasher finished with one.
Driskill paced Brownwood with 22 assists and also posted a team-high 18 digs. Jordyn Brixey supplied 13 assists, while Green finished with 15 digs. Brasher had 14 digs, Kendal Ratliff recorded 10, and Brixey added eight.
Hooker led the team at the net with five blocks. Green recorded two blocks and Lucas added one. Green served two aces, with Driskill and Brixey each contributing one.

The loss left Brownwood with a 7-12 record. The Lady Lions are scheduled to return to the road Friday for a 4:30 p.m. match against Class 3A No. 8 Wall.
