Brownwood ISD is recognizing two employees for their contributions to local campuses this September: Elisabeth Johnson, a special education teacher at Coggin Elementary, and Abby Flores, a custodian at Brownwood Middle School.
The district announced the monthly honors in a press release issued Monday. Johnson was selected as the month’s spotlight teacher, while Flores received the staff spotlight honor.
Coggin Elementary teacher recognized
Johnson serves as a Special Education Structured Learning Teacher at Coggin Elementary. She is a Brownwood High School graduate and holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Angelo State University. She is also state-certified in Core Subjects with STR for early childhood through sixth grade.
This is Johnson’s first year with Brownwood ISD. The district said she has made a significant impact in a short time by creating an organized and positive classroom environment and developing strong, trusting relationships with students.
According to the district, Johnson’s calm and consistent approach helps students feel supported while preserving clear expectations and routines. Brownwood ISD also highlighted her understanding of individual student needs and described her as a strong advocate for the students she serves.
Brownwood Middle School staff member honored
Flores is a custodian at Brownwood Middle School. She joined the district in August for her first year with Brownwood ISD after gaining experience in warehouse operations, groundskeeping, production and quality control.
The district said Flores has taken on responsibilities beyond her regular custodial duties. When the middle school had an opening for a custodian, she stepped up to cover an additional area and help keep the campus clean.
Her work includes cleaning, sweeping and mopping classrooms and other areas that need attention. Brownwood ISD said Flores completes those added responsibilities while maintaining a positive attitude and supporting a clean, welcoming learning environment for students and staff.
The September recognitions highlight both classroom instruction and campus operations. Johnson’s work supports students in a structured learning setting at Coggin Elementary, while Flores’ expanded custodial duties help maintain daily conditions at Brownwood Middle School.
Brownwood ISD said the district is grateful for employees who provide quality instruction, student support and a positive school atmosphere, as well as those who assist colleagues and go beyond their regular assignments.
