Brownwood ISD is recognizing two employees whose work supports students both inside the classroom and across the district’s athletic facilities. Pamela Thompson was named the district’s October Spotlight Teacher, while Randall Stephens was selected as the October staff spotlight honoree.
The district announced the recognitions in a press release issued Monday. Thompson is a secondary science teacher at Brownwood High School, where she teaches chemistry and biology and helps strengthen the school’s science department.
Pamela Thompson recognized for science instruction
Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a minor in Biology from Gardner-Webb University. She also holds a Texas Classroom Teacher certificate in Science for grades 7-12.
Before and during her education career, Thompson developed experience in high school science and laboratory quality control. The October announcement marks her third year with Brownwood ISD.
Brownwood ISD highlighted Thompson’s role as a collaborator within the Brownwood High School community. She assists fellow science teachers, shares expertise in chemistry and biology, and helps colleagues learn new technologies. In her own classroom, she challenges students by raising the rigor and practical application of chemistry.
The district said her work supports both her colleagues and student learning, describing her as a teacher who contributes beyond her assigned classroom responsibilities.
Randall Stephens praised for campus and athletic-facility work
Stephens is the Grounds/Athletic Facilities Lead for Brownwood ISD Maintenance and is beginning his second year with the district.
His recognition follows extensive work maintaining Brownwood ISD’s athletic facilities. The district said Stephens cleared brush from trees at the baseball fields, improving their appearance, and removed fencing while completing a major cleanup at Gordon Wood Stadium.
That stadium work took place while contractors and coaches were also working at the facility. The district said Stephens regularly takes ownership of tasks, shows initiative and helps others when needed.
The announcement also noted his work during the Maintenance Blitz at East, where the principal specifically recognized the effort he and a teammate put into the project. Stephens was described as maintaining a positive attitude while working in oppressive heat and as someone who goes beyond what is expected to keep district facilities clean and welcoming.
For Brownwood ISD, the two October recognitions reflect different but connected parts of school operations: Thompson’s work elevating science instruction and Stephens’ work preparing and maintaining the spaces students and staff use each day.
