The Brownwood Independent School District Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the BISD Central Support Center, 2707 Southside Drive in Brownwood. The regular meeting agenda includes reports on student wellness, mental health, English-language services and district investments, along with proposed appointments, evaluator approvals and library-material purchases.
The meeting notice says the board may discuss or take formal action on the listed subjects, although the items do not have to be handled in the order shown. Matters placed on the consent agenda will be considered together unless an item is removed for separate discussion.
Reports and recognitions on the agenda
The meeting is set to begin with establishment of a quorum, a call to order, an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. The agenda also lists an instructional focus, board recognitions and an opportunity for guests to address the trustees.
During the discussion and action portion, trustees are scheduled to receive departmental and superintendent reports. The listed reports include the superintendent’s report, a Nursing and Wellness Report, a Student Health Advisory Council report, an English as a Second Language program report, a Mental Health Initiative report and a quarterly investment report.
The board is also scheduled to receive an announcement about continuing-education requirements for board members.
Appointments, evaluators and library materials
Items listed for possible consideration on the consent agenda include appointments to the Student Health Advisory Council for the 2026-27 school year and approval of T-Tess evaluators. The Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System, commonly called T-Tess, is named in the agenda only as “T-Tess”; the notice does not provide additional details about the evaluators.
Trustees are also scheduled to consider approval of library materials for a November purchase and final approval of library materials purchased in October. Minutes from the board’s Sept. 14, 2026, meeting are included for consideration as well.
The notice does not say whether any of the listed consent-agenda items will be removed for individual discussion or whether the board will approve them.
Closed session will cover personnel and security
After the open-meeting agenda, the board is scheduled to enter executive session under Texas Government Code Section 551.074 for personnel matters. The listed subjects include the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment of duties, discipline or dismissal of public employees or officials.
A second closed-session item cites Section 551.076 for security matters. The agenda says trustees may discuss the deployment, specific occasions for or implementation of security personnel or devices. It also says that discussion may include findings from local or state-mandated districtwide intruder-detection audits.
The meeting notice explains that any final action, final decision or final vote related to a closed session must take place in an open meeting when the trustees reconvene or at a later properly noticed public meeting. It also lists other purposes permitted under the Texas Open Meetings Act, including private consultation with the board’s attorney, real-property discussions, negotiated gifts or donations, employee complaints, student discipline and consultation with employee groups.
According to the notice, the meeting announcement was mailed or emailed to news media that had previously requested notice, and an original copy was posted at the BISD Central Support Center by 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 29. The notice was certified as being posted at least three business days before the scheduled meeting.
Upcoming dates listed by BISD
The announcements section identifies Oct. 12 as the district’s Fall Break for Columbus Day. It also lists the Region 15 Superintendent Conference for Oct. 19-21 and identifies Nov. 9, 2026, as the date of the next board meeting.
