The City of Brownwood honored 38 employees for milestone years of service during its annual Service Awards Banquet on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, at the Brownwood Event Center. The employees recognized represented departments across city government, with service milestones ranging from five to 30 years.
City Manager Marshal McIntosh opened the evening by highlighting the role city employees play in serving Brownwood residents. He also thanked the employees’ families and guests, Mayor Stephen E. Haynes, Brownwood City Council members and the city leadership team for supporting city staff.
The banquet included a plated dinner, formal recognition of honorees, presentation of service pins and acknowledgment of exemplary performance across city departments.
Employees recognized for long-term service
Troy Carroll of the Police Department was recognized for 30 years of service.
Six employees reached the 25-year milestone: James Fuller of the Police Department; Melanie Larose of Finance; David Power of Information Technology; James Art Shannon of the Police Department; and Silas Tervooren of Utilities.
Employees honored for 20 years were Chad Hill and Ronald Groom II of the Fire Department; Rebecca Bradley of the Landfill; and Joshua Parsons of Utilities.
The 15-year honorees were Rhonda Moody and Justin Storch of Central Dispatch; Robyn Williams of Municipal Court; Travis Pierce of Parks and Recreation; Jesse Mares and Angie Hill of the Police Department; and Jesse Sliger of the Street Department.
Five- and 10-year milestones
Employees recognized for 10 years of service were Henry Wied of Public Works; Jose Gonzalez Jr. and Joshua Tatum of Planning and Development; Jared Spohn and Ian Baker of the Police Department; Leonel Moreno and Coy Talley of Utilities.
The five-year honorees were Jeff Wagstaff of the Airport; Brittany Hanley of Central Dispatch; Misti Fraser and Leah Thomas of Finance; Eric Hunter, Korben Cardenas and Tanner Cox of the Fire Department; Sarah Dunham of the Health Department; Kenneth Richardson of Parks and Recreation; Vince Piper of Planning and Development; James Holdar II and Austin Carlisle of the Police Department; David King of Sanitation; and Johnny Cook of the Street Department.
McIntosh closed the event by reaffirming that Brownwood’s strength comes from its people. The city said it extends its appreciation to all employees and to the families and friends who support them.
